Dr. Kevin V. Mulcahy Born 1945 Rockland County, New York Education M.A. Pennsylvania State University M.A. and Ph.D. Brown University Occupation Professor Kevin Vincent Mulcahy (born 1945 in Rockland County, New York) is an American professor and public policy theorist. Professor Mulcahy's research is principally centered on cultural policy and international cultural diplomacy, but he also has extensive experience in American Presidency and American Foreign Policy studies. He is currently the Sheldon Beychok Distinguished Professor of Political Science and Public Administration at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he has taught since 1980. In addition, he has served as an Executive Editor of the Journal of Arts Management, Law and Society since 1997. He is recognized at the national and international level for his contributions to his fields of expertise, and has been honored with many prestigious awards, including a Fulbright Distinguished Professorship as the Laszlo Orszagh Chair of American Studies in Budapest from 2002-2003. He has also been selected as a Fulbright Senior Specialist at Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania, Romania for October-November 2009. Other faculty exchanges have occurred in France, China, South Africa, Australia, Taiwan, Canada and Quebec. Professor Mulcahy received his Ph.D. from Brown University in 1977, after having received Masters' honors from Brown and Pennsylvania State University. Prior to beginning his 28-year tenure at LSU, he taught at Claremont McKenna College, Mills College, Queens College-CUNY and the University of Colorado. Research and Theories He is best known for his work in taking a lead role in the creation of what is now known as cultural policy. In addition to his numerous professional articles, he is also the author of several books, including: Public Policy and the Arts and America's Commitment to Culture. He is currently working on a new book entitled Patronage, Politics and Cultural Policy: International Perspectives, with the support of the Awards to Louisiana Artists and Scholars (ATLAS) grant.
