Contents 1 History 2 Tours 3 Discography 4 References // History The PB Army was formed by Keith Bergman and Micah Shimborske, former members of comedy/metal band Chicken Dog. After some shows with Matt "Schmid" Snyder on bass, the band enlisted Nick Shallcross for the job; however, he left town abruptly in December 2001 and Mahlon Orrin stepped in. This lineup would last until summer of 2006. Bergman, the drummer, and Shimborske, the guitarist, originally planned to split the vocal duties 50/50. However, Bergman ended up writing more lyrics and took over the lion's share of the job. To date, the only song on which Shimborske contributes lead vocals is "The Motherlode," from the band's debut (and a holdover from the end of the Chicken Dog days). The song remains a live favorite, which has prompted talk of a sequel to the song -- also sung by Shimborske. The band's sound has been described as "stoner punk metal," as "Black Sabbath meets Devo," and as "heavy riff pop." The band (who prefer simply "heavy rock") focus on catchy riffs and memorable vocal melodies, although more aggressive vocals occasionally appear. Tours The band has embarked on several self-booked tours over the years, most recently in summer 2007. They've shared the stage with the likes of Clutch (band), Monster Magnet, Liars (band), High On Fire, Jucifer, Solace (band), Spirit Caravan, Dixie Witch, and many others. After several years of relative inactivity, The PB Army has reunited with original bassist Shallcross and resumed work on its long-delayed third album, "First We Sleep Forever... Then We Eat the World." Recordings have been made featuring several special guests, including an appearance by Todd "Beefcake the Mighty" Evans (Gwar, Porn Flakes, Mobile Deathcamp), but it is uncertain whether these tracks will see the light of day. The band plans to resume touring later in 2009, upon completion of the album.
