The character of Simon first appeared in February 2000, and is played by Australian actor Paul Leyden. The character of Simon appear on As the World Turns from February 2000 to February 28, 2003 and January 16, 2004 to February 6, 2004 and June 4 to June 28, 2004 and again June 16, 2006 to January 18, 2007. Simon returned once again on Friday 20 November 2009 during the 'Never Surrender' tour. Character's background Simon Frasier came to Oakdale with one goal: retrieving a family heirloom. Apparently his great-grandfather gave his lover, Beloved, a very valuable necklace and Simon was determined to retrieve it for himself. During his time in Oakdale, Simon takes an interest in Lily Snyder and doesn't notice that young Katie Peretti has a hige crush on him. When Simon discovers he's about to be deported unless he finds a solution, Katie opts to marry him so that he can stay in the States. Simon agrees, still oblivious to Katie's feelings for him and while being chased by the FBI to the church, a hilarious wedding ceremony takes place, after which SImon is being left alone. He still plans on winning over Lily's heart, but also gets to know Katie better and discovers there's more to her than just the spoiled girl she seems at first. They spend more time together and Katie ultimately loses her virginity to him. Although Simon had come to enjoy Katie's presence, he refused to admit there was anything real between them and he kept hitting on other women. When Katie disappeared out of the blue, Simon frantically searched for her, realizing he had been in love with her all along. When he found her, he declared his love for her and asked her to marry him again, only for real this time. Katie happily agrres and the two get married in a beautiful ceremony. Simon and Katie can't enjoy their married life for long when Simon discovers old enemies have found him and are on their way to Oakdale to get rid of him, and possibly Katie too. Knowing Katie wouldn't let him go, Simon made a deal with Katie's best friend Henry for him to skip town, disappear and make sure the enemies would come after him, and not bother Katie. HOwever, Katie found out soon about the plan and travelled after Simon to Australia with her friend Mike Kasnoff. There she was held hostage by one of Simon's enemies and was used to lure SImon out of hiding. SImon soon came to find Katie, not knowing she was tied to a chair with a bomb. Desperately trying to warn Simon, Katie was suddenly rescued by Mike and dragged out of the building that exploded afterwards. Katie broke down when she heard a body had been found that had been identified as Simon. Months later as Katie was just getting her life back together and started dating Mike, she was shocked to see a very much alive Simon in her room. He explained he escaped the building in time and had to lay low for a while after that, but has now returned to be with Katie again. Katie was confused about whether she should leave with him or stay in Oakdale with Mike. When Simon told her they were never safe and wanted to go on the run together, Katie decided to stay true to her husband and leave Oakdale with him. She asked Mike for his help to escape town, but when Simon's contact man was shot to death, their plan was changed, and Simon worked together with Mike to keep Katie safe. On the night they would leave, Simon and Katie met at the docks and Simon told her he would leave Oakdale by himself, Katie wouldn't come with her. He then left her on the docks while Katie cried and begged for him to come back, which he did not. Only a few months later, Simon returned to help Katie escape from a mental institution, to which she was admitted after attacking Mike's new girlfriend Pilar Domingo. Katie was convinced Pilar was trying to hurt Mike, but no one beside Henry believed her, so Henry indirectly asked Simon for help. Katie didn't know that Pilar was actually paid by Simon to separate Mike and Katie from each other so he would have his wife back. When Pilar discovered she would end up with nothing, she blamed Katie for everything and tried to kill her, only to be killed herself when she fell into her own knife. When Katie discovered Simon was responsible for Pilar's actions, she made a final decision about their marriage and told him she wanted a divorce. Although begging for another chance, Simon soon realized their marriage was over and left Oakdale. Two years later, while on a cruise ship celebrating their honeymoon, Katie and Mike were stunned when they discovered Simon was aboard of the ship as well. When he found out about his ex-wife's presence on the ship, he tried to reconcile with her, despite the fact she was now married to Mike. When they fell over board, Simon and Katie stranded together on what seemed to be a deserted island. Simon used this opportunity to get close to Katie, but Mike soon found them and revealed that only a few 100 yards away, there was a hotel and Simon knew about this. Mike and Katie went back to Oakdale, but so did Simon and his lover Vienna Hyatt. Simon soon became involved with Carly Tenney and together they planned on stealing the diamond necklace of Vienna. Katie suspected they were up to something and started writing about it in her book. When Simon ultimately confronted her about it, they end up having sex together. Guilt ridden over what she had done, Katie ordered Simon to go away and not tell anyone about this. Carly and Simon were soon forced to leave town when their scam was revealed in public and after a tearful goodbye with Katie, Simon left Oakdale. Mike soon found out about their one-night stand and left Katie as well. More than two years later again, Simon was tracked down by Jack Snyder while trying to sell a fake painting for a lot of money to a customer. Jack told Simon that he had accidentally shot and killed his brother Brad, who was now married to Katie and recently had a son with her. A guilt ridden Jack told Simon Katie didn't eat, sleep or take decent care of Jacob, nor would she let anyone help her. Knowing Simon's the only one who she would let in, Jack asked Simon to come back with him to Oakdale and help Katie. Simon agreed to do so and saw Katie again for the first time since their goodbye in 2007. Although trying to stay strong, Katie soon broke down in Simon's arms, and after a conversation with Henry, in which Simon admitted Katie was still the only person in the world he cared about, Simon decided to extend his stay in Oakdale and help Katie getting her life back on track.
