Hopkins Glacier is a glacier flowing into Darbel Bay south of Erskine Glacier, on the west coast of Graham Land. Photographed by Hunting Aerosurveys Ltd. in 1955-57, and mapped from these photos by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS). Named by the United Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee (UK-APC) in 1958 for Sir Frederick Hopkins (1861-1947), founder of the School of Biochemistry at Cambridge, who made pioneer investigations on synthetic diets and vitamins which contributed greatly to the development of present ideas on concentrated rations.  This article incorporates public domain material from the United States Geological Survey document "Hopkins Glacier" (content from the Geographic Names Information System).
