Hawks Nest Golf Club Hawks Nest is a championship rated 18 hole course with an ACR of 71. The course is probably the finest wet weather course in the Newcastle district. It is the home of the NSW/ACT 72 hole PGA Trainee Professional Championships for the next three years. On competition days or during special events, the Pro Shop operates from 6.30am. Normal trading hours are 7.30am to 5pm daily. Special arrangements can be made for groups travelling by ferry from Nelson Bay to Tea Gardens to enjoy a game at Hawks Nest. The Club offers modern Clubhouse facilities and a fantastic Championship rated 18 hole course of 6058 metre of easy walking. Hawks Nest welcomes all standards of players. Enjoy the tranquillity of the natural bush setting with an abundance of wildlife and native flora. Hawks Nest Golf Club is a community based non-profit organization providing an excellent facility for both recreational and sporting purposes: food and beverage sales: entertainment, sporting and leisure facilities. About Hawks Nest Golf Club Our History Local golf enthusiasts formed Hawks Nest Golf Club in 1963, however it was not until the early 1970s when land was leased from the Great Lakes Council, that volunteers commenced clearing and construction of the first 9 holes. The course was extended to 12 holes in 1986 and then to 18 holes in 1989. Today, the golf course has a reputation as one of the premier golf courses on the North Coast of New South Wales. In 1977 the original Clubhouse was built and a liquor license granted. Since then the Clubhouse has undergone several extensions and renovations, most recently an internal refurbishment in January 2004. Location The twin towns of Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest are uniquely located on the north shore of Port Stephens and only an hour's drive north of Newcastle. It is only two and half hours easy travelling from Sydney, on the F3 and dual lane Pacific Highway, making the area an ideal weekend getaway. The area is a major drawcard, well known for a variety of activities including surfing, sailing, water sports, bush walking and fishing. The Club is situated right in the heart of Hawks Nest and is very easy to find after taking the Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest turnoff on the highway. Clubhouse The Clubhouse is large, modern, comfortable and air conditioned. It has wheelchair access and some outside smoking areas. The Club is an ideal spot for the Club's members, guests, visitors and holidaymakers to enjoy. Clubhouse hours - open 7 days from 10am The fully licensed Clubhouse presents a fine Bar, Bistro, Coffee Shop and relaxing areas to take in the superb views of the course and the bushland setting. Our Pro Shop, run by Mr Steve Denning, boasts a comprehensive range of golf equipment, clothing and accessories. If you would like to relax over a good meal, some fine wine or a few beers, have a 22 seat Courtesy Bus do the driving. On Wednesday through to Saturday nights our bus picks up and delivers patrons anywhere in the Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest area.
