It was last assigned to the Troop Carrier Command, based at Alliance Army Airfield, Nebraska. It was inactivated on 14 April 1944. The 10th Troop Carrier Group was originally designated as the 1st Transport Group but never activated under that designation. It was re-designated as the 10th Transport Group when it consolidated in 1937 with the 10th Observation Group and was activated. It was one of the 15 original combat groups of the United States Army Air Corps before World War II. The group transported supplies, materiel, and personnel within the US. Later, trained cadres for troop carrier groups and in 1943 was given the additional duty of training replacement crews. The unit was inactivated in 1944 when the need for training transport personnel was decreased.
